About us

Julie and Brad live in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.

They are very fortunate to have 4 happy, healthy, well-adjusted adult children, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and the most beautiful, smart, amazing granddaughter. 🙂

They are both recently retired.  Julie and Brad decided to retire early after both were diagnosed and successfully treated for cancer.  They feel extremely lucky to be cancer free after surgery and chemotherapy treatments.

Their interests include family, RV’ing, kayaking, travel, skiing, outdoor adventures, cruises, BBQ’ing, and food.

They have taken RV trips through the Northwest Territories, Queen Charlotte Islands, northern British Columbia, much of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.  They have also travelled through the northern part of the US from the state of New York to Montana.  They spend many enjoyable summer days in Alberta parks and wilderness areas.  They have completed 3 luxury cruises, namely, Alaska, Quebec City to Boston, MA., and a “Journey to the New World” cruise from Rome, Italy to Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Their significant kayak trips include the Bowron Lakes circuit, Maligne Lake, and the Athabasca River from Jasper to Whitecourt, AB.

They frequent Marmot Basin in Jasper, AB for skiing and love Sun Peaks resort.   They have skied some of the other western Canadian resorts, as well, over the years.

Recently, they have been trying to focus more attention on their health and living a healthier lifestyle.  This has included an effort to eat healthier, eat the correct portions, lose weight, maintain an exercise program (consisting of both weight training and cardio exercises), and consume less alcohol. They are seeing the results and hope they can maintain this lifestyle for the benefit of their long-term health and well-being.

In addition, Julie is an avid reader, designs and publishes many family photo books, and enjoys various craft projects.

Brad enjoys learning new technology, reading various web forums, planning and researching trips and adventures, and reading true life accounts, especially related to outdoor adventures.

Brad’s trip and adventure planning efforts earned him the family nickname “muleskinner” ; coined by his mother-in-law after one such family adventure.  That name has stuck over the years and they thought it was an appropriate name for this website.
